NEW EVENT! Sotterley Family Farm Day!

Historic Sotterley is hosting a Family Farm Day – a special NEW all-day event at our Farmer’s Market on Saturday, June 30th from 9:00 a.m. ~ 4:00 p.m. This will be a fun-filled day for all ages, with fascinating demos and presentations, foot stompin' live entertainment, entertaining activities and creative crafts for kids, fantastic food and drinks, and interesting tours around our historic site!

Check out antique farm equipment and tractor from The Southern Maryland Antique Power Association - they will also show y'all how a tractor pull is done! See and hear about the gorgeous log canoe, handcrafted in the historic tradition of Chesapeake Bay boat building by John Cook. The University of Maryland Extension of Master Gardeners will give a composting demo and have a special activity just for kids. Pete Himmelheber will give his famous "Tool Talk" in our Corn Crib. And just wait to see (and taste) what our friends from The Cow & Fish Restaurant will be whipping up. Learn about the nature of bees from Dave Newburyport, how to weave a basket, and Dave Baxter will demonstrate how glass beads are made. Face painting and balloons, too! Craft making for kids with Joi Ames will be available all day long. Free tours of our 1703 Plantation House and Colonial Revival Gardens will also be available for all to experience and enjoy! Don't worry, you won't leave hungry with the offerings from these fantastic food vendors: Dooley's Backyard BBQ, Niccoletti's food truck, Sweet Tooth Funnel Cakes, hot dogs dressed up to order, and top if off with a cupcake from Nelly'z Cupcakez! Last but never least, the "Country Memories" Band will be cranking out the tunes and tempting you to kick up your heels!

FREE admission! However, we are gratefully accepting donations for our "Growing for Good" program! Over the past four years, we have donated over 30,000 lbs. of produce to our local food banks and food pantries – together we can serve our community!

Our Farmer's Market will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Farmer's Market Vendors: Sotterley Farm - assorted vegetables; R & H Farms - pork and beef; Herb Trapp Farm - herbs; Michael Churilla, Sr. - local honey.

Check out the full schedule of the day’s events at www.sotterleyfarm.org.

The BLOG is Back in Town!

As we gear up for the 2018 Gala in the Garden this Saturday night, we will have a great time no matter what mother nature has planned! We also want to take a moment to extend our sincere thanks to so many who support this event and thus, the mission and vision of Historic Sotterley.

We are a different kind of non-profit, as we rely 100% on philanthropic support through donated funds, grants, and special events. As with all of our events, the Gala in the Garden will allow ...

... for children to visit, explore, and learn ...
... for food to be donated to those in need in our community ...
... for the continued sharing of our important stories.

YOU help these things to happen through sponsorship, donations, volunteering, and attending events! Thank you all!

With Gratitude
