The public is invited to view student projects incorporating the theme, “Triumph and Tragedy” at the St. Mary’s County History Day at St. Mary’s Ryken on Saturday, February 23rd from 12:30 to 3:00 pm. The project categories include paper, exhibits, documentaries, websites, and performances. The awards ceremony will take place at 3:00 p.m.
“Sixty students from St. Mary’s County have registered to participate in this year’s competition,” according to Jeanne Pirtle, Historic Sotterley Education Director. “Historic Sotterley is happy to facilitate this event and to partner with our friends at St. Mary’s Ryken to host the event. We are all looking forward to viewing the interpretations of the theme by these creative students.”
The winners will be eligible to enter the Maryland History Day contest, with hopes of proceeding to the National History Day contest level.
